I take a pause from my Polaroid cellphone blogging to share a fun new project that I just did for Paxico Via Mexico (who else right?). This is my low-budget/no-budget packaging solution that I did for them. Black and white print on yellow stock paper inserted into plastic sleeves. I’ll post pictures of the final product soon so you can really get a feel for it. Also did their myspace theme to fall in line with their new EP! Listen to their music, it’s awesome!!!

Congratulations to Hatchet Design on the launch of their snazzy new website (www.hatchetdesign.com). They are beautiful people, designers, and friends, now with a beautiful interweb portal. They will no doubt, blow the minds of all winterparkens. They just are another example of ballin Florida alums!

Here is my taxi receipt from today that I just couldn’t get over. I’d like to make prints or t-shirts of it soon! What do you think?
It’s the Society Promotions “Halloween” show! Beast in Show is opening October 30th at The Exchange in Gainesville. The show will feature art by Robert Evans, Ricky Kendall, Evan Mcintyre, Josh Pusey, and myself. All pieces will be the artist’s interpretation of creatures, monsters, and beasts found in The Bible. I will have a couple piece in it; the beast from the earth, and the beast from the sea found in Revelation. Really interesting and uncommon material is sure to come out of this so stay tuned! I’m going to try and make it to the opening, but that’s still up in the air. Check out the poster:

I’m writing this to you from a quirky little cafe just around the corner from where I’m living in Astoria, NY. It’s a great find, nestled amidst a plethora of greek restaurants and cozy little suburban homes. Free WiFi and good coffee! Waltz Astoria
A couple weeks ago I was extremely lucky and honored to be featured on The Dieline:

and then AGAIN! a few days later. What?! The Dieline is one of my favorite websites ever, and they update multiple times a day with brand new and beautiful packaging design.
I promise to update soon with some photos of projects that I just finished up. All I’m saying is that one is a wedding invitation poster (crazy right!) and the other is a CD package/poster for Dustin Pence… both were 2 color screenprints and I can’t wait to share them with you. Love always, Mike.

Just doing some last minute tidying up and confirming that not only do I find type design interesting, and fun but also extremely beautiful!

Taking the train!! Decided to take this 20 hour train ride to NYC. I’ve never ridden a train… well besides a subway. Should be beautiful and restful…. and long!
Just finished a poster for Paxico Via Mexico Ricky Kendall and Friends… check it below.

So I’ve been in NYC for most of this month and I’ll be here till June 28th or so. Why? Well I’ve been interning with an amazing design firm called Mucca Design. They do really amazing work and it’s an honor to work with them. For the next month I’ll try and blog a bit more!
I updated my website!! Yay! I posted some newer projects that I did over the last semester at UF. Here are a couple of previews of the work. Click on the images to see the whole project page:

Florida Magazine redesign that I completed with the University of Florida foundation. Look for it in your mailbox soon.

“an atlas of stylized cranial outgrowth”
a fun project from last semester’s classes in which I mapped haircuts throughout my life. I used nautical and weather maps as inspiration.
