Inadvertently explored Greenpoint this weekend and found some sweet sign and work truck type!

Yo! Check out my whip! My SUPER DUPER WHIP!

Not in Greenpoint but still some cool neon!

Sky High Murals of the fames “Up There” film —-> watch it here —-> http://vimeo.com/10562000

This gas truck also had the same type HUGE on the side of it, but I couldn’t get a good shot. Love the two tone drop shadow, and there was amazing pin striping details on the letter shadows that you can’t quite see here.

“Popular” for a reason!

I can’t imagine what kind of “mist” this would be, but hey if it helps then who cares!!

If you are having a crazy wild night on the town this sign will attempt to keep you in line!

And the real reason I named this post Neon Bible… The word of the street is The Arcade Fire is releasing a new single soon. We eagerly anticipate! http://pitchfork.com/news/38818-new-arcade-fire-single-out-soon/

Very uncommon drop shadow on the top right (not that these guys put much thought into anyway)

So I have a theory about the camera on my cellphone. While others seem to be updating their phones so that the pictures are like 20 mega pixels, I personally enjoy the lo-fi aesthetic of my crappy cellphone! I consider it the polaroid of cellphones! Also, I had much better luck with this blog when i was mostly uploading photos, so in hopes to update more regularly I’m going to do a bit of photo blogging for now!!

Starting now….

The day last summer that the sky started to melt! Apparently it’s a Mammatus cloud formation.

Congratulations to Hatchet Design on the launch of their snazzy new website (www.hatchetdesign.com). They are beautiful people, designers, and friends, now with a beautiful interweb portal. They will no doubt, blow the minds of all winterparkens. They just are another example of ballin Florida alums!

Here is my taxi receipt from today that I just couldn’t get over. I’d like to make prints or t-shirts of it soon! What do you think?

I’m writing this to you from a quirky little cafe just around the corner from where I’m living in Astoria, NY. It’s a great find, nestled amidst a plethora of greek restaurants and cozy little suburban homes. Free WiFi and good coffee! Waltz Astoria

A couple weeks ago I was extremely lucky and honored to be featured on The Dieline:

and then AGAIN! a few days later. What?! The Dieline is one of my favorite websites ever, and they update multiple times a day with brand new and beautiful packaging design.

I promise to update soon with some photos of projects that I just finished up. All I’m saying is that one is a wedding invitation poster (crazy right!) and the other is a CD package/poster for Dustin Pence… both were 2 color screenprints and I can’t wait to share them with you. Love always, Mike.

tidying type

Just doing some last minute tidying up and confirming that not only do I find type design interesting, and fun but also extremely beautiful!

Taking the train!! Decided to take this 20 hour train ride to NYC. I’ve never ridden a train… well besides a subway. Should be beautiful and restful…. and long!

Just finished a poster for Paxico Via Mexico Ricky Kendall and Friends… check it below.

So I’ve been in NYC for most of this month and I’ll be here till June 28th or so. Why? Well I’ve been interning with an amazing design firm called Mucca Design. They do really amazing work and it’s an honor to work with them. For the next month I’ll try and blog a bit more!

I updated my website!! Yay! I posted some newer projects that I did over the last semester at UF. Here are a couple of previews of the work. Click on the images to see the whole project page:

“an atlas of stylized cranial outgrowth”
a fun project from last semester’s classes in which I mapped haircuts throughout my life. I used nautical and weather maps as inspiration.
